Tracks

Every DART programme sits on one or more of these tracks. Each track has three levels, and each level ends with something you built working.

Ground robotics

Build an unmanned ground vehicle from bare chassis to autonomous navigation, on the same drivetrain ideas as STRYKER.

  1. Level 1: Drive

Chassis, DC and BLDC motors, motor drivers, batteries and wiring. Finish by driving your rover over RC.

  2. Level 2: Sense

Encoders, IMU, ultrasonic and ToF sensors, PID speed control and live telemetry from an ESP32.

  3. Level 3: Navigate

LiDAR, mapping and waypoint navigation. Plan a route and let the rover drive it on its own.

Aerial systems

Assemble, tune and code small drones inside a netted flight cage, on our ESP32 unmanned aerial vehicle platform.

  1. Level 1: Fly

How multirotors fly: frames, motors, ESCs, propellers, batteries and safe flying practice in the cage.

  2. Level 2: Tune

Flight controller firmware, PID tuning, ToF height hold and optical-flow position hold.

  3. Level 3: See

Camera-guided flight: stream from an ESP32-CAM, detect a target and make the drone follow it.

Embedded & ROS 2

The electronics and software every robot runs on, from a single microcontroller to a ROS 2 network of computers.

  1. Level 1: Wire

Microcontrollers, C/C++, GPIO, PWM, I2C, SPI and UART. Read sensors and drive actuators.

  2. Level 2: Design

Schematic capture and PCB layout for an ESP32-S3 carrier board, then bring it up on the bench.

  3. Level 3: Connect

ROS 2 nodes, topics and launch files, DDS networking and splitting a robot across a Pi and a laptop.

Autonomy software

Linux, telemetry and fleet software for field robots, taught by the team that builds DRL Sentinel OS.

  1. Level 1: Operate

Linux, the shell, Python, Git and networking basics for robots in the field.

  2. Level 2: Monitor

Build a web dashboard for live telemetry, video and maps with Node.js and React.

  3. Level 3: Harden

Sentinel OS concepts: secure boot, encrypted links, logging and running a small fleet.

We’ll drive a rover into your seminar hall. The demo is free.

A 45-minute session with a live rover drive and a drone flight in a netted cage, for any engineering college in Kerala or Tamil Nadu.
