Programmes Ground robotics

Build and drive a rover

A one-day workshop on your campus. Teams wire a ground rover from a bare chassis and drive it through a course by the end of the day.

We bring the rovers, tools and engineers. Students work in teams of four, one kit per team, and finish the day by driving their rover through an obstacle course.

It suits first and second year students who have never built a robot, and works as a department add-on, a chapter event or a tech-fest workshop.

You leave with

  • A working rover your team wired yourselves
  • How motors, drivers and batteries fit together
  • A DART certificate of participation

How it runs

  1. Morning How a ground robot works, with a live STRYKER demo
  2. Late morning Chassis, motors and motor drivers
  3. Afternoon Wiring, ESP32 control and first drive
  4. End of day Obstacle-course run and certificates
